Lucinda

Lucinda is the head-strong maid in the employ of Jon. It would appear that adopting a bellicose and spirited approach to life is her way of facing the horrors that lurk in the shadows of Victorian era America.  When we join Lucinda in her travels, she has begun to take on increasing responsibility for keeping the company in the green as  Jon has become oddly distracted and distant.

Jon

Jon is a butler with an enigmatic past whose recent life's work has been concerned with the cleaning and restoration of highly sentimental heirlooms.  Having worked with Lucinda's mother, he has agreed to provide a job for Lucinda in her mother's absence. Perhaps out of a sense of duty. Perhaps due to Lucinda's knack for seeing otherworldy details.  He seems to be driven, but by what and for what it is uncertain.

Penny

Penny is a strange girl who is curiously confused at her own doll and seemingly much else.  She has been given strict rules to follow by her mother to protect her from the outside world and things which may bring harm to her. Including fresh air.  Penny does seem to have an affinity for Lucinda, and is glad to help when she can - though mostly, she prefers to look on with a befuddled expression.
